Shiny Pretty Things

While I was on vacation I picked up some shiny pretty things that I will work into my projects soon. I apologize for the bad phone picture quality, but I'm really much too lazy to charge my camera let alone find it.

Aren't these stunning? Art deco shoe buckles.

Shiny rhinestone broaches; I think the first one is art deco, the little one seems really old because of the clasp, and the flower one is just fun

Tilt your head to the left... I didn't rotate the image. This is such a huge chunk of sparkly, I can totally see it on a late Victorian ball gown!

Two hair combs that are perfect for my 1910s dresses. The black one is modern made of jet in the Czech Republic. The honey colored one is made of bakelite and dates from the 1910s.

Cute Vintage pearl bow pendant

Elbow length kid gloves that actually fit!

Adventures in London and Prague

I'm on vacation after a hectic year and before a hectic summer! Here are some pictures of what I've been up too recently in London and Prague. I'll also post some photos of Hampton Court and Blenheim Palaces, Cambridge and Oxford, and the Cotswolds.

Annie's Vintage shop in Camden Passage Islington

1890s ballgown bodice

racks of gorgeous dresses, lace, and accessories not to mention many stunning beaded 1920s dresses

one of the more simple '20s evening gowns
I found the perfect 1910s tea dress there, it looked to be in my size and price range, but it was reserved for someone else. )-: Just my luck!

Liberty of London

What can I say, I can't resist a Liberty print

Or the beautiful lace that they carry at their Haberdashery!

beautiful flowers for sale out front

We visited Selfridges basically because of the miniseries, unfortunately there were no antique fripperies, just modern products! (-;
We took a long weekend in Prague which I had heard amazing things about, everybody raves about it! Not me I'm afraid, in fact I rather didn't like it much. From there we left for France, but I'll backtrack to all the things that happened in between.

Estate Opera Theatre

Old Town Square
I have to admit that I am a big Opera fan. I have often been caught humming my favorite songs from my favorite opera, Rigoletto. I was lucky enough to be able to see Verdi's Nabucco at the gorgeous Prague State theatre while we were there. It was the highlight of my visit. The performance was wonderful, the opera house was wonderful, and our seats were wonderful!

I was pretty excited

And in awe!

Vintage '50s party dress listing

I have absolutely no time to make anything because it is exam season!
Instead I can show pictures of a beautiful '50s party dress I listed on Etsy a while ago.

So cute! Unfortunately I have no occasion to wear it to and I can't let it hide in the back of my closet.

1940s Whiting & Davies

This is a Whiting & Davis piece. W&D is the oldest bag manufacturer in the U.S. They began business in the 1870s as jewelers. It's a petite evening bag with a lovely clasp. Best part? I only paid $18! Can't wait to use it with my in progress 1936 gown! (-:

New Vintage Finds

Here are several pretty things that I found at a vintage market.

3 adorable vintage patterns, though on the middle one the models look a bit scary!

I can't believe little girls wore those outfits! The ballet one reminds me of Carolyn Lord's ballet scene in High Society. (-:

Here is a beautiful late Victorian petticoat with lovely lace detailing.

each of these patterns were ... $2!!!!

I love buttery sunshine colors!

Sweet little sunburst lace.

And my jackpot, 4 yards of this gorgeous flower lace! It's 3 inches wide and I absolutely adore it! Plus it was a steal!

I'm happy
