Georgian Inspirations

I recently celebrated a birthday, and my wonderful family and friends surprised me with a smörgåsbord of 18th century themed items! Such as a pair of American Duchess Georgiana shoes,

a copy of Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire's novel The Sylph,

a regency fashion plates poster from Bath,

and who knows were she found them, but my grandmother found two original late 18th century fashion plates!! Now I'm just aching to make a Peirrot Jacket in shot green taffeta like in one of the pictures! I'll post pictures of theme an other time!

Thank you family and friends for a great birthday!

A Regency Stroll at Chatsworth

Pictures from the summer of my finished Regency frock at Chatsworth in the Peak district. For those who are unaware, Chatsworth is the home of the Cavendishes/Dukes of Devonshire, It has always been a favorite place of mine because of the history and it is absolutely gorgeous and inspiring to boot.

When I wore it back in June I hadn't yet made the proper undergarments so if you can see a pair of white shorts underneath my dress that's why.

1913 Outfit

Another (mostly) finished project! My 1913 outfit inspired by a mix of Upstairs Downstairs season 4, Downton Abbey, and a history project from school. It came together very quickly considering there were practically no directions! I got the patterns from Past Patterns. It looks better on, but I haven't had time to do even a quick photo shoot!!

American Duchess Shoes

The American Duchess has come out with a beautiful line of historical shoes. Her new shoe is on pre sale now.....

The Devonshires are a leather 18th century shoe based on museum examples from the 1760s through 1780s.  They're made of top-grade dyable leather, with a beautiful, smooth Italian leather sole for dancing, and are hard-wearing, water- and mud-proof, for even the toughest of outdoor re-enactments.

Pre-Order the Devonshires through August 10, and get the special $100 price.  We're only making 200 of these shoes, so don't miss the chance to own one of only a couple hundred pair on the planet!  Visit www.american-duchess.com to order.

Both The Georgianas and The Devonshires are absolutely gorgeous and on sale until August 10th.

1940s Whiting & Davies

This is a Whiting & Davis piece. W&D is the oldest bag manufacturer in the U.S. They began business in the 1870s as jewelers. It's a petite evening bag with a lovely clasp. Best part? I only paid $18! Can't wait to use it with my in progress 1936 gown! (-:
